Overview

Upper Mustang Trek is one of the favorite trekking routes in Nepal.The Mustang  rightly called the “lost Kingdom of Tibet”. Foreigners are allowed to visit it only in 1991. But today the Kingdom, remote from the highways which is in isolation from the rest of the country. It is  closed from all sides of the valley of the river Kali Gandaki. It is at the altitude of 4000m, with very scarce vegetation, and a medieval way of life.Horse Riding Trek as well as Bike Riding are the main attraction of Upper Mustang Trek. Top Mustang was in restriction to foreigners until 1992. Upper mustang trek package trip is a popular package trip for trekkers.

People of mustang share cultural  with Tibet as well as have a lifestyle centered around Vajrayana Buddhism. The Mustang has a  beautiful paintings and artifacts  that are the keys to the history of the Oji. Most of the upland terrain is dry as well as there are green oasis around the village.

Another interesting fact about Upper Mustang that people have their own local king of Mustang.

Lo Manthang is the capital of Mustang and has long served as the seat of the royal family.
